What I learned from a Successful self-employment book from 1982 :Freelance forever by Marietta Whittlesey

Roll your TV away when working to prevent distraction. Well this one is a little difficult to accomplish these days when we have multiple TVs in one room. Note taken- No TV while working. What that means for me- being uncomfortable with no background noise. We are so stimulated all the time, that we have learned to work with noise and now take it away, we lose focus and concentration. We have made our lives harder by trying to do too many things at once. When we place our focus on one thing, we will experience lower cortisol levels and more peace. So go on, roll the TV away.

Creatives work late because the frequencies are wild during the day when everyone is up and moving. Devices are on, tenchnology is in full swing and creatives feel all of this. Craving space to tune into their mind body and soul. Thus this environmental change from sleep to the morning chaos can be overwhelming for creatives and lead to stress. Therefore most creatives have funky work hours, moving with their intuition and feelings within. This is okay. You know what is best for you and when you are more productive and its important you follow your own feelings. You will find peace and more success when you move in align with your mind, body and soul.

Lastly, Shove your phone under a pillow to prevent it from ringing. Imagine a cord phone with no way to silence. Okay this has to be my favorite as someone who tends to put their phone aside when working. When I am in flow, I cannot deal with my phone pulling me away from this flow I am in. Its a flow and i’m going with it. It feels right and it is right. Don’t let other peoples needs and wants interfere with your productivity. Don’t feel guilty for not answering your phone when you are busy. You owe nothing. When you do what’s right, everything will be okay and work out just as it should.

Takeaways- eliminate distractions while working, we have always been curious about what is going on, but focus on one thing at a time, give yourself the grace of choosing your own hours, when you are most productive and spend the other hours moving your body with intuition guiding. Drop the guilt of your phone, its a phone, its really not that important, it can wait.

Now go complete the mission, your vision, your dream.
